Year Round Atmosphere with a Fire Pit or Fire Table

Having a patio or deck is a wonderful thing for any home. Extending the home outside leads to many different activities and memories to be made. Unfortunately, given that we live in Minnesota, that outdoor space can often be under utilized throughout the whole year. One of the biggest ways to add function and ambiance to an outdoor space for the entire year is by including a fire pit or fire table. This simple addition can transform a drab or empty outdoor space into a cozy, comfy family oasis. We’re going to go through how a fire pit or fire table can help through some of the seasons of the year.

Fire Pits Through the Seasons

Summer is the most obvious season for having a fire table or fire pit. You can spend your summer evenings hanging out by the fire having a few beverages. The very warm temperatures of the day lead to calm, warm evenings. The fire table or pit leads to a great entertaining space to have family over for those July Fourth or Memorial Day weekends. The fire also helps prevent those pesky mosquitoes from showing up. Fire pits are wonderful for a cookout, a birthday party or just curling up to read a book after dinner. One of the best things about fire pits is that they can be used whenever and if there is 12 people there or two.

Fall is an incredible time to have a fire pit or table. The cool, crisp evenings are ideal for sitting by a fire and staying warm. The ambiance of the fire with the red and orange leaves above is a scene that is unforgettable. Keeping the patio or deck space clear is easy with a little raking action. No matter the time of year, be sure to always have someone else around with you when you start the fire pit. That way if you need help for any reason, someone will be right there. Fire pits are a safer alternative to campfires because they are more easily contained. However, they can be dangerous if you do not pay attention or are unfamiliar with them.

Winters can be brutal in Minnesota. Having a space to hang out throughout the winter months is wonderful. Just a little shoveling of the patio or deck and you have a winter retreat with a warm fire. Imagine a s’more or roasted hot dog on a cold January day! A boring winter day can be transformed into an exciting, abnormal adventure. After an exhausting day of sledding or skiing, you can come home and warm up by a nice cozy fire. Fire pits and tables create a space to lounge even in winter, as well as socialize and relax. Your backyard will instantly become the envy of your neighborhood as you party outside in the winter.

Different Styles of Fire Pits and Tables

Fire pits come in a variety of styles including built into the ground in a patio, freestanding fire bowls, and bowls mounted in the center of low tables that are convenient for guests to sit around. Fire tables also very popular now. They are powered by propane gas and provide a convenient, easy way to have a warm fire without the work of building one out of wood.
